NBNco Approach

NBN Co's approach to building a Fibre to the Premises network is quite different to OptiComm. At OptiComm we deliver a complete turn key solution with one point of contact for everything from design of the pit and pipe through to its installation, network commissioning and service activation. Its all managed by OptiComm.

NBN Co's approach has the developer dealing with up to twelve different parties:
 

  1. The NBNco new developments team to arrange the contract;
  2. The consultant to design the pit and pipe to NBNco standards;
  3. The NBNco design team to approve the design;
  4. The civils contractor to install the pit and pipe using NBNco methods and practices;
  5. The NBNco construction team to inspect the pit and pipe installation;
  6. The systems integrator working on behalf of NBNco to deliver the services;
  7. Each of the Retail Service Providers to ensure they are offering services in your estate; and
  8. Work with the residents to resolve all connection problems.

NBN Co have published their own pit and pipe technical standards which MUST be followed to ensure you have access to your "free network". If dealing with Opticomm for a turn key solution we use the industry standards as published by Communication Alliance, but we also provide all pit and pipe designs, approvals, construction, project management, network deployment, RSP relationship, end-user and stakeholder management as part of our scope of works.
