Post Installation
Once the OptiComm Fibre to the Premises network connection has been completed Free to Air and Pay TV Services (if access is provided) will be available. For Pay TV a separate contract needs to be entered into just as would be done with a Retail Service Provider for Internet and Telephone services.
The pre-wired cables (terminated and labelled by your builder) will be connected to the ports of the Network Termination Device installed by our technician. These may include the following: 1 x RG6 cable for TV, 1 x Cat5E for Internet, 1 x Cat5E for Telephone (2 ports), 1 x Cat5E for IPTV. Your builder should have tested these cables as part of their cabler’s licence requirements with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Your builder should have labelled all wall outlets so that they can be identified as either:
If a Home Distribution Unit is installed the termination points within this unit should be marked and recorded to correspond with any Wall Outlets installed in your home. You may also need to ensure that RJ45 to RJ45 patch leads are supplied to allow for the through connection of services at the Home Distribution Unit.
When you contacted the OptiComm Customer Contact Centre a list of Retail Service Providers was made available to you. Once the Network Termination Device is installed and commissioned the wholesale network is capable of having a retail service connected to a port. This may be any of the following: Internet, Telephone (2) and a range of other services. At this stage you should be in a position to order and have a service provided to you by a Retail Service Provider (RSP).
