OptiComm enables 1Gbs internet at Burwood Brickworks

By Nick Acfield posted August 11, 2020

11 August 2020 – OptiComm has now connected more than 130 dwellings with superfast optical fibre at the Burwood Brickworks development by Frasers Property. Located just 19km east of the Melbourne CBD, Burwood Brickworks is a master-planned, mixed-use community that features a range of built form including multi-dwelling apartments, townhomes, single dwellings, land lots and an innovative retail shopping precinct that includes Woolworths, specialty shops, a cinema, a medical centre and a water-wise urban farm. The development is positioned in the vicinity of several educational facilities with nearby bus and rail connections. An urban plaza links the retail shopping centre to public open space with Village Green park and wetlands, creating a walkable natural environment in the heart of the development.

The ability to work from home has become a key priority and residents at Burwood Brickworks are well served, as their homes are connected to the OptiComm national fibre network, which is today delivering 1Gbs internet speeds via wide range of Retail Service Providers (RSPs). Residents have the flexibility to choose any of the 35+ RSPs on the OptiComm network at any time. Plans from RSPs on the OptiComm network range from affordable through to high performance 1Gbs services for video gaming and high definition video streaming from platforms such as Netflix®, Stan®, Amazon Prime®, Foxtel Now®, Apple TV 4K®, Kayo Sports® and YouTube®.

In addition to Internet and telephone services the OptiComm fibre network supports FOXTEL IQ® 4K and Free-to-Air Television services so that Burwood Brickworks is free of television antennas and satellite dishes. The network also delivers community Wi-Fi which is available in the public realm.

In time, Burwood Brickworks will be home to approximately 2,000 residents in a vibrant community within a sustainable development with access to a range of services that enhance the amenity of the district.
