OptiComm will next year begin work on Peet’s Folio195 Apartments, located on Pier St in the City of Perth’s cultural hub.
The 27-storey project is a collaboration between Peet and DevelopmentWA, which will deliver innovative and affordable housing solutions in Perth.
OptiComm’s involvement with the project will see residents accessing high-speed internet on the company’s fibres, alongside free-to-air TV, Foxtel, public Wi-Fi, as well as benefits to the building infrastructure including the provision of connections for building services, CCTV and security systems, which reduces the amount of additional cabling networks.
Folio195 Apartments prioritise communal space, meaning residents in each of the 186 apartments will be able to access OptiComm’s services in common areas, as well as their own homes.
Further bolstering the affordable housing element of the project is OptiComm’s affordable housing internet solution, which will enable more people to connect to the company’s leading internet service. This initiative is another of the infrastructure provider’s moves to close the digital divide – a growing disparity between those who can access world-class internet and those who can’t.
OptiComm state manager Kevin Chambers says his team is motivated by projects like Folio195 Apartments, that seek to provide affordable housing and connectivity.
“We are looking forward to working with Peet once again, and this project is particularly unique in that it is a holistic solution to affordable housing – right down to the internet connection for residents.
“As more of the world becomes dependent on home internet – particularly for school and work – we are going to be rolling out affordable housing internet solutions across the country, to ensure as many people as possible can connect to high-speed home broadband,” he said.
